Tasting Note

Oriental spices, with blackberry and dark chocolate on the nose. The palate is vertical and structured with firm tannins offering a rich, vibrant and complex mouth feel that leads to a long-lasting salty finish. A rare wine of greatness on par with the best of the world. Demands both aging and decanting.

Product Notes

T-Oinos Clos Stegasta Mavrotragano Rare is a Greek red wine that has an outstanding level of complexity and balance. It is produced in Santorini from rare, indigenous Mavrotragano grape variety which is only grown on the island. The wine possesses a rich and bold character, dominated by a deep red color and a concentrated aroma of black fruits, spices, and earthy notes. It has a full-bodied taste, with a velvety texture, and is marked by a refined acidity. This rare wine is aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, which lends it subtle smoky, vanilla, and tannin notes. Overall, this is a wine that is best enjoyed with rich, hearty meals and will offer a memorable drinking experience.

About the Winery

T-Oinos

The wines of Tinos Island in Greece have a very rich history and heritage. The first signs of viticulture were noticed here as early as 4000BC. By 1768, the island was home to producing at least 20 different types of wines. As of 2019, there are over 13 hectares of privately-owned vineyards in this number. This number is expected to go up to 17 hectares in 2025. Also, the number of organic vines planted on this island is expected to go up to 120,000 from 80,000, which is the number currently.
