Tasting Note

The nose is delicate and refined with its complex aromas of lemon, yellow apple, pear and starfruit. Rich flavours of quince, lime, honeydew melon and creme fraiche dominate an opulent, full, yet vibrant palate. The wine is supple and precise with poised acidity and freshness. The mid-palate shows incredible balance with subtle nuances of pie crust and blanched almonds from exceptional oak handling, creating intensity with the rich texture and pure fruit. Hints of fresh pineapple, poached pear and lemongrass linger on a clean, focused finish.

Product Notes

Boekenhoutskloof Cap Maritime Chardonnay is a premium white wine that comes from the prestigious Cape South Coast wine region of South Africa. This wine is made from 100% Chardonnay grapes and is fermented in French oak barrels. The result is a beautifully balanced and complex wine with a vibrant acidity, crisp minerality, and a rich creamy texture. The nose is intensely aromatic, displaying notes of citrus fruit, white peach, and spicy oak. On the palate, flavors of ripe apple and pear are complimented by hints of vanilla, cinnamon, and toasted hazelnuts. This wine is the perfect accompaniment to seafood, shellfish, and creamy pasta dishes.

About the Winery

Boekenhoutskloof

Founded in 1776, Boekenhoutskloof remains located in the extreme and furthest corner or edge of the breath-taking Franschhoek Valley in South Africa. The winery’s name refers to the ravine of a Cape Beech tree indigenous to the area, known as Boekenhout. The tree has always been a prized material making high-quality furniture.
