Tasting Note

It is reminiscent of blackberries, red cherries and a little of pepper. A wine of medium body and a more complex character of robust reds from the Goriška Brda region holding a soft texture and nice length, it has an ageing potential of up to five years.

Product Notes

Edi Simcic Duet is a premium wine, hailing from the Edi Simcic winery in Slovenia. This wine is a blend of two grape varietals - 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, both hand-picked from the vineyards of the Brda region. The wine is aged in French oak barrels for 18 months, which imparts a rich and complex flavor profile. On the nose, the Edi Simcic Duet reveals notes of dark fruit, cherry, and tobacco, while on the palate, it is well-structured with a round and persistent finish. This wine is ideal for pairing with red meat dishes and hard cheeses. Edi Simcic Duet is an excellent representation of the high quality of Slovenian wines.

About the Winery

Edi Simcic

Edi Simčič is based in Goriška Brda in Slovenia, where the Southern Alps and the Northern Mediterranean mix. Brda has the perfect soil for wine cultivation as it is rich in minerals and salt. Therefore, the region can produce white wines, including Mediterranean mineral, exotic, fresh, full and capable of maturing up to five to six years. However, the company believes Rebula is their pride and identity.
