Tasting Note

The wine from the Kloof Vineyard is totally unique to South Africa. Pure fruit (soft white pear and bright limey citrus) razor sharp acidity and well-judged oak result in a wine that is precise, intricate yet layered, focussed and fine with significant ageing potential. It has a beautiful oyster shell minerality, a slight saline note, a long finish and good weight on the back palate.

Iona Kloof Chardonnay is a cool-climate South African wine from the Elgin Valley, where coastal breezes and high elevations help grapes ripen slowly. It typically offers inviting aromas of citrus, green apple and pear, alongside subtle notes of toasted nuts and oak. On the palate, the wine combines ripe fruit with fresh acidity and a smooth, rounded texture. Its balanced style makes it enjoyable on its own or paired with roast chicken, grilled fish, creamy pasta or soft cheeses.
