Product Notes

Ten Minutes by Tractor Estate Chardonnay is a deliciously balanced drop from Mornington Peninsula in Victoria, Australia. The nose is rich and inviting, with aromas of ripe apricot, fresh peach and delicate vanilla. On the palate, the wine is a beautiful expression of the Chardonnay grape, with flavours of peach, citrus, hazelnut and a hint of oak that leads into a long and satisfying finish. The wine is fermented in French oak barrels and spends 10 months ageing on lees before bottling. This unique process produces a Chardonnay that is complex and elegant, with a great texture and structure that pairs beautifully with seafood, poultry, pork and creamy pasta dishes.

Tasting Notes

Now a blend of four vineyards, the Estate Chardonnay takes a different tack this year, the vintage warmth delivering a wine that has more width and volume. There’s an extra edge of white chocolate on the nose this year too, though backed with a more traditional white peach and nectarine that is the Ten Minutes by Tractor trademark. Underneath, it’s a broadly proportioned wine with a notable depth of flavour this year – a more full-throttle Estate Chardonnay – though with plenty of acidity to carry off the style.

About the Winery

Ten Minutes by Tractor

It was during 1997 that the three family-owned vineyards that were apart from each other, ten minutes by tractor, got together to form the Ten Minutes by Tractor brand. What started with 3 vineyards has now grown to more than 200 vineyards in the region of Mornington Peninsula. The excellent climate and soil of this area have given it the distinction of creating the finest Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grape varietals in Australia.

More than 50% of the vineyards in this region are covered by Pinot Noir cultivation while Chardonnay ranks a close second. A very small area of these vineyards is dedicated to the cultivation of Shiraz Grapes. Recently, Pinot Gris cultivation was also started in the Mornington Peninsula, much to the happiness of many a wine lover here.

The wines created here belong to various categories – 10x, sparkling, estate and single vineyard. The 10x category of wines is created from grapes across many vineyards in the Mornington Peninsula and is known for its exquisite regional flavours. Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Rose’ and Pinot Noir are some of the famous wines that belong to this category.

The estate wines and sparkling wines are those that are the specially crafted barrel-selected wines from individual vineyards. These are then mixed well to produce some of Australia’s finest quality of wines. Estate Chardonnay, Estate Pinot Noir and Sparkling Blanc de Blancs are the popular wines in this category.

Single vineyard wines are those that are created using Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grown in the individual vineyards of McCutcheon, Coolart Road, Judd and Wallis. Grapes grown only in the high-performance blocks of these vineyards are selected for making these wines. McCutcheon Chardonnay, McCutcheon Pinot Noir, Judd Pinot Noir and Wallis Chardonnay are some popular wines that belong to this category.
