Tasting Note

This first release of the Hambledon Classic Cuvée Blanc de Blancs uses the superb 2018 vintage as its base. It has been maturing in cool cellars on its lees for more than four years, growing in complexity and balance all the while. Once in the glass, there is an immediate sensation of freshness, and the quality of the Chardonnay fruit shines through, with lovely notes of creamy apple and quince, and enhanced by the delicious scents and textures of brioche and subtle vanilla which have been created by the extended time spent ageing in bottle before release.

Product Notes

Hambledon Vineyard Blanc de Blancs is a luxurious sparkling wine meticulously crafted in the heart of the Hampshire countryside, England. Made exclusively from hand-selected Chardonnay grapes grown on the sun-drenched slopes of the vineyard, this elegant wine is a true reflection of its terroir. With its pale straw color and delicate bubbles, it offers a vibrant and refreshing drinking experience. The nose is filled with notes of green apple, lemon zest, and freshly baked bread, while the palate is crisp and well-balanced with a creamy texture and a long, lingering finish. Perfect for any celebration or special occasion, Hambledon Vineyard Blanc de Blancs is a sophisticated and refined choice for those who appreciate the finer things in life.

About the Winery

Hambledon Vineyard

Hambledon Vineyard, nestled in the heart of Hampshire’s South Downs, is widely regarded as the birthplace of English wine. Originally founded in 1952 by Major General Sir Guy Salisbury-Jones, it was England’s first commercial vineyard. After a period of decline, it was revived in 1999 by Ian Kellett, who replanted classic Champagne grape varieties—Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier—on the estate’s chalk-rich slopes. In 2023, Hambledon entered a new chapter when it was acquired in a joint venture by Berry Bros. & Rudd and Symington Family Estates, helping expand its vineyard area to around 200 acres.
