Tasting Note

Vignaferrovia is ruby red in color. Its nose is rich and complex. Notes of red fruit merge with hints of fig jam, dates and citrus marmalade; its bouquet is completed by floral aromas of lavender, delicate balsamic and iodized scents and light sensations of resin, sandalwood, chocolate and cinnamon. On the palate, its entry is soft, defined by silky tannins. Vignaferrovia is a refined, energetic and vibrant wine, characterized by excellent persistence and freshness.

Product Notes

Antinori Pian delle Vigne Vignaferrovia Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is a premium red wine produced in the Montalcino region of Tuscany, Italy. This wine is made from exclusively Sangiovese grapes grown in the single vineyard Vignaferrovia, which is located within the Pian delle Vigne estate. The vineyard is situated at an altitude of 130-200 meters above sea level and the soil is rich in clay and limestone, which lend unique minerality to the wine. The wine is aged for at least five years, of which at least two years are spent in oak barrels. It exhibits a deep ruby-red color, with aromas of ripe dark fruits, spices, and tobacco. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied with velvety tannins and a long, persistent finish. Antinori Pian delle Vigne Vignaferrovia Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is a wine that showcases the outstanding quality of Sangiovese grapes from Montalcino, and is a perfect choice for fine dining and special occasions.

About the Winery

Antinori Pian delle Vigne

Pian delle Vigne is a company under the ownership of the Antinori family since 1995, comprising 184 hectares, out of which 65 are vineyards. The Antinori family had been in winemaking for over six hundred years. The first member of the Antinori family to enter the winemaking business was Giovanni di Piero Antinori, who became involved in the Florentine Art of the Vinattieri in 1385. 1995 was also the year when the first Brunello Pian delle Vigne harvest took place. Tenuta Pian delle Vigne is located six kilometres from Montalcino. It owes its name to a locality of the same name, which also has a 19th century railway station. It represents Marquises Antinori's interpretation of traditional wine like Brunello.
