Tasting Note

A brooding complexity of floral aromas and ferrous minerality giving the wine intent and seriousness. Tightly would acidity and tannin combine giving the wine a graphite/ferrous thread through the palate. A core of perfumed fruit and mid weighted style finish with a distinct earthy drive.

Product Notes

Frankland Estate Smith Cullam Syrah is a premium red wine crafted from the Syrah grape grown on the Smith Cullam vineyard in Western Australia. This single vineyard wine is a true reflection of the unique terroir where the vines are planted. The wine is aged for 12-14 months in oak barrels to enhance its complex flavors of blackberry, dark cherry, and spice. On the nose, it has aromas of black fruit, pepper, and violet, which are indicative of a classic Syrah. Its fine tannins and balanced acidity make it an elegant wine that is perfect for long-term cellaring. This wine pairs well with roasted meats and hard cheeses.

About the Winery

Frankland Estate

Frankland Estate is one of Australia’s most renowned wineries, established in 1988 by Judi Cullam and Barrie Smith. Located in the district of the Frankland River, the area enjoys a cold and pleasant climate that is typical to the southwestern coast of Western Australia. Since its foundation, the couple has remained invested and involved in the winery and its vineyards’ operation and management. They share and hold the responsibility of the estate’s winemaking and overall working. In recent times, their children Hunter and Elizabeth Smith, have taken over the roles. They aim to drive the family business forward and to a new level.
