Product Notes

Cockburn's Fine White Port is a well-balanced and elegant fortified wine produced in the Douro Valley region of Portugal. This port is made using traditional Portugese grape varieties including Viosinho, Gouveio and Malvasia Fina that are grown on the steep slopes of the Douro Valley. The white port is aged in small oak casks for an average of two to three years before being blended and bottled, giving it a delicate and complex flavor profile. Cockburn's Fine White Port is a versatile wine that can be enjoyed as an aperitif or paired with a variety of foods such as cheeses, nuts, and desserts. The wine has a bright, golden color and a refreshing finish that makes it an ideal choice for warm weather occasions.

About the Winery

Cockburn's

Cockburn’s have been revolutionary in every step of the port-making business. In 1815, two brothers John and Robert Cockburn, directly bought grapes from the farmers in upriver Douro, bypassing the merchant’s fair. In 1969, with the launch of the Special Reserve, the company successfully planted the previously ignored Touriga Nacional in large numbers. Despite their success, they still use some traditional techniques like aging in oat vats. Their different business approach and an uncompromising attitude towards tradition have helped them achieve success in port making.
